Bus Only Lanes in Downtown Miami Study

Identify the need and feasibility of Transit Priority Measures (TPM), such as bus-only lanes, in the Downtown Miami area. The intended purpose of TPMs is to improve performance of bus routes operated by Miami-Dade Transit (MDT), Broward County Transit (BCT), and Miami Trolley systems in the Downtown Miami area.

The New Miami-Dade MPO Executive Director

Aileen BoucleThe Miami-Dade MPO Governing Board has appointed Ms. Aileen Bouclé, AICP, as their new Executive Director. Ms. Bouclé will be responsible for conducting the planning process for Miami-Dade County’s complex transportation network, which includes the implementation of policies established by the MPO Governing Board, and directing, managing, and planning for projects and programs that enhance Miami-Dade County transportation.

Now Accepting Proposals for the Municipal Grant Program (MGP)

Every two years, the Miami-Dade MPO makes available $300,000.00 in federal transportation planning funds for municipalities to apply under the Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP). Interested municipalities are now being requested to submit transportation planning study proposals to the MPO for consideration.

Transit System Bicycle Master Plan for Miami-Dade County

This plan sets out to evaluate existing bicycle-with-transit conditions within Miami-Dade County. It identifies applicable best practices for bicycle connections to transit systems; establishes a vision for the bicycle access to transit systems that guides land use and transportation policy decisions; develops a comprehensive, prioritized, short-term and long-term recommendations for improvements to access and utilize all transit facilities and services; and, supports transit agencies’ Transit Development Plan Updates and the County’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan.

Village of Miami Shores Multimodal Mobility Study

The Village of Miami Shores conducted a multimodal mobility study with the primary goal to increase bicycle and pedestrian mobility and safety through identifying projects and recommendations that the village can consider for programming and implementation. This study is part of the Municipal Grant Program (MGP).

Call for Ideas

Call for IdeasWe are seeking creative ideas for transportation planning studies that will provide effective solutions to alleviate traffic congestion in the areas of highways, transit, freight, air, sea, non-motorized, and safety. Submissions will be considered for inclusion in the Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP). Ideas selected will then be recommended for adoption by the MPO Governing Board.

Miami-Dade MPO Recertified until 2019!

Every four years the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) conduct a review of the Miami-Dade MPO’s transportation planning process, as required by law. The Federal Team conducted a site visit with MPO staff from April 22nd to April 23rd, which commenced with a comprehensive, interactive presentation provided by MPO staff explaining the multitude of work products completed and best practices achieved over the last four years. This presentation became the fabric of the meeting as both MPO staff and the Federal Team were able to communicate to one another what the required regulations were and how each one was successfully accomplished.

As a result of this effort, a joint letter from FHWA and FTA was received stating that the Miami-Dade MPO continues to satisfy the provisions for metropolitan transportation planning, thereby substantially meeting the requirements of 23 CFR Part 450.

Our certification will remain in effect until August 2019.
