miami traffic jam, originally uploaded by noway.

If the view above seems familiar, its probably because you’ve been sitting in traffic for 50 extra hours per year.

“Americans sat in traffic 4.2 billion hours, or 38 hours per driver, in 2005, up from 4 billion in 2004, according to the transportation research center at Texas A&M University.”

It’s more like 50 hours in Miami, making us the 11th worst nationwide.

And while some of us wouldn’t mind staring at that sky for hours on end, it’s not always so nice… not to mention all the gas that’s wasted and time we could be doing better things.

…yet we keep pouring money (billions) into highway projects: 826, 836 extension, I-95 HOT lanes, etc.

    How’s that working out, drivers?
