Well That does it for me. I’m out. There is absolutely no reason for a domed stadium in Florida. None.

Yea, I know Tampa has one. But the Devil Rays are in the American League so they don’t really play baseball anyway.

I used travel back to my hometown for several games a year. Thanks Miami for all that cash I’ll get save now.

well it certainly is an ugly looking thing….

I don’t think it looks that bad… we’re just looking at it on one side, and it looks fake. But in real life, it might actually look good. I’m just going to hold a while before giving a final verdict until I see a 3D and aerial version of the design.

I think it looks pretty good. But I fear it’s only a matter of time before somebody starts clamoring for a “Mediterranean” design.

These are the renderings for the 2004 proposal. You can see the OB in the rendering. HOK or the Marlins have not released any updated stadium renderings since then.

the likelihood that this will be within budget is laughable. Even better will be how well this blends in with the neighborhood. Oh wait. Maybe they should consider a mesa style stadium with a blue tarp roof.

    Budgets and Miami-Dade don’t mix!

  8. Anonymous says:

I think the roof opens up so the team can escape in its pod to another city.

The stadium is awesome. Can’t wait to cheer on the Marlins there. Where can I get season tickets? Go Fish!

Anyone who does not think we need a dome has not been to many games. I’ve never been rained out, but I have been at games with _3_ rain delays. I have also skipped games after looking at ominous clouds. The main question is, “how do we streamline transit from the metro station to the stadium?”

  11. Henry Gomez says:

There is absolutely no reason for a domed stadium in Florida. None.

Spoken like someone who has never been to a Marlins game.

95 degree heat, 99% humidity at 9:00 at night in July. Grey clouds overhead threatening rain every day (whether it actually rains or not is a different story but the threat is there every day.).

You must be a total dousch bag to say there is no reason for a dome in Miami. We have more rain delays than any other non dome team. Weather changes in an instant down here. I hope you don’t return to South Florida. The last thing we need here is another village idiot.

  13. Little Havana Marlins Fan says:

The agreement between the team, the county and the city said that the stadium will “provide protection from the elements.” That doesn’t mean that it will include one of the ‘older’ retractables, i.e.: milwaukee (miller), seattle (safeco), arizona (bob). It will mostly likely be something comparable to what the rays are installing.

By the way, the renderings above are about 4 years old (you can notice the OB still to the right).

With regards to the style and PR in general the Marlins should definitely go back to basics. Get rid of the stupid mermaids, get rid of the stupid concerts, get rid of the stupid ‘fiesta’ nights and give me some good old fashioned baseball, a couple of hot dogs and a few beers - they need to take a trip to fenway or wrigley and get some pointers…

  14. Little Havana Marlins Fan says:

Who else thinks it’s absurd that the cops are holding up this entire process? They can’t come to an agreement on whether the City of Miami or Miami-Dade County officers will patrol the stadium. Sharing is caring guys…

  15. Money could be better used says:

It looks like an airport terminal.

  16. marlins for life says:

The Ball park is going 2 be great and even better than it looks on this design. Marlins fans should be happy were getting a stadium in town and with a roof to avoid those damn rain delays. Well i’m out and as always…….. Lets Go Marlins Baby!!!!!!!!!!

i think the marlins staduim is going to be great. but the team should try to get some big players like albert pujols, prince fielder, If they dont get some all star players we will have another losing season. they promised if they built the staduim they will spend money on big name players like i said. if we dont we will continue to have losing seasons and the staduim will be a major disapointment

  19. Britton says:

As a Texas Ranger’s fan that regularly goes to games in the heat wishes we had a roof just about every time I go. Great idea.
